About Miller Dough

Hello!

I’m Heather Miller Bateman, proud mother of six wonderful children and the founder of Miller Dough. My family’s health has always been my top priority, and that commitment starts with using only the highest-quality ingredients.

My sourdough journey began in a little bakery in Ireland in 2018 where I first experienced the magic of fresh artisan bread and delicate pastries; cream-filled donuts dusted with powdered sugar—my sisters and I went back for these over and over again. 
 
 When the time came to leave, I realized that I just had to learn how to make artisan bread. As nice as it would be to visit that bakery every time I had a craving, I figured making it at home would be a little easier than booking an overseas flight. I’d just have to create that magical bakery goodness myself. 
 
Driven by the memory of that life-altering experience, once I was back home, I immediately dove into YouTube videos, bought all the cookbooks, and joined a Europe-based online sourdough school. It’s been a fun and delicious seven years as I’ve worked on perfecting my craft. I’ve made endless loaves—much to the delight of my friends and family—to sell at the Watford City farmers market during the past four years; I’ve also catered private events. Now, I’m excited to bring this to the public on a bigger scale.

Good food isn’t simply about amazing bread and melt-in-your mouth pastries, though a good bombolini is not something to take lightly! My hope in creating the Miller Dough Artisan Bakery is to share a product that not only nourishes your body but also awakens your senses, letting you experience that same wonder I felt in Ireland all those years ago.
